Actor, comedian and writer Stephen Fry is born in 1957

Stephen Fry was born in Hampstead and was first introduced to the public in the 1980s as part of the comedy duo Fry & Laurie. Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie starred together in the popular sketch show ‘A Bit Of Fry And Laurie’ as well as the television adaptation of P. G. Wodehouse’s “Jeeves” novels. Fry’s film roles include ‘Wilde’ (a biopic of Fry’s personal idol Oscar Wilde), ‘Gosford Park’ and the recent ‘Hobbit’ series. He was also the host of the beloved panel show ‘QI’ for 13 years and is a regular guest on the radio show ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue.’ Fry has been very open about his struggles with mental health and is the president of Mind, the mental health charity.
