Bastille Day

Bastille Day

Bastille Day marks the fall of the Bastille, a Medieval fortress in the east side of Paris that served as a political prison, after an angry group sieged it as a response to widespread poverty and what was seen as the unchecked privilege of those in power. Historians point to this as the start of the French Revolution. The day is filled with leisurely family activities and celebrations, adorned with a lavish military parade displaying French power on the Champs-Elysées.
