BBC broadcast 1st News Bulletin in 1954

Richard Baker and John Snagge introduced this 20-minute bulletin as an “illustrated summary of the news…” This was followed by the latest events and happenings at home and abroad. The newsreaders didn’t come in front of the camera as it was thought that their appearance could distract the viewers. The highlight of the news included peace talks in Indo-China, followed by a story on the French in Tunisia.
