Howard Carter Discovers Tutankhamen's Tomb (1922)
It was a momentous day when Howard Carter entered the sealed burial chamber of King Tutankhamen. For years, archaeologists had been meticulously excavating the ancient Egyptian site, hoping to find some clues about this long-lost civilization. But none of the tombs they had uncovered were as well-preserved as King Tut’s. The artefacts inside were in pristine condition, and it was clear that great care had been taken to protect them from the ravages of time. This was an incredible find for the archaeological community, and it has helped us to better understand the lives of the ancient Egyptians. We are now able to see their culture through their own eyes, and that is a priceless gift.
