Nancy Astor the first female MP was born (1879)

Nancy Astor was born in Virginia in 1879 and moved to England in 1903. After marrying Lord Waldorf Astor, she was inspired by his work within the House of Lords and dedicated her life to politics. In 1919, Astor was elected councillor for Plymouth Sutton and became the first woman to serve as an MP.
