Oxford won 1st Oxford Cambridge Boat race (1829)

The first Oxford Cambridge Boat Race took place on 10th June, 1829, at Henley on Thames. It was started by two friends, Charles Wordworth and Charles Merivale, whilst on their university holidays. Their winning boat can still be seen in the River & Rowing Museum in Henley. Make sure to check out the River & Rowing Museum website for galleries of some of their exhibitions and displays from the comfort of your own home.
