Did you know, lions are the second largest cat in the world, Asian tigers being the largest one! Unfortunately, the numbers of these mighty cats have drastically reduced to a point where they might fall on the endangered list. To stop the further decline in numbers and protect them, Big Cat Initiative, the biggest accredited sanctuary for lions, along with National Geographic, started this initiative. Grab this opportunity to raise awareness of these large cats’ predicaments and the ways to save them.

Harry Houdini stays in a coffin under water for 1½ hrs before escaping

Harry Houdini was born in Budapest on the 24th March 1874. His family dreamed of a better life and migrated to America when he was just two years of age. Houdini found his passion and talent for magic in America and started out by performing card tricks, which eventually moved onto daring escape tricks that he filmed. His escape tricks involved breaking out handcuffs in famous settings, such as police stations. In 1926, he stayed inside a sealed coffin under a swimming pool at New York’s Shelton Hotel for one and a half hours before escaping, without any breathing support!

The Queen Mother was born Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon, she was the fourth daughter and ninth child of Lord Claude George Bowes-Lyon and Lady Nina Cecilia Bowes-Lyon. She ruled the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth until her husband King George VI passed away and her daughter, the current Queen, ascended to the throne.

1961 The Beatles 1st gig at the Cavern in Liverpool

The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. With a line-up comprising John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they are regarded as the most influential band of all time and were integral to the development of 1960s counterculture and popular music’s recognition as an art form. Their first gig at Cavern Club presented John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Stuart Sutcliffe, with Pete Best on drums. Soon, they became the club’s signature performers.

MTV premieres at 12:01 AM 1981

Though The Beatles had created music videos for promotion and there were some attempts on Music Video TV, MTV, Music Television, was the first to revolutionise music videos. MTV premiered on 1st August 1981, when one of the creators John Lack, went on air saying “Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll,” and the first video “Video killed the radio star” by The Buggles followed.

MTV changed the landscape of the music industry and restructured pop culture, offering a solid platform to new singers and bands. In no time, Music Television became a part of households in America and other parts of the world, including Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
