Though The Beatles had created music videos for promotion and there were some attempts on Music Video TV, MTV, Music Television, was the first to revolutionise music videos. MTV premiered on 1st August 1981, when one of the creators John Lack, went on air saying “Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll,” and the first video “Video killed the radio star” by The Buggles followed.
MTV changed the landscape of the music industry and restructured pop culture, offering a solid platform to new singers and bands. In no time, Music Television became a part of households in America and other parts of the world, including Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
