Purim

Purim is a blast! It’s a Jewish holiday that celebrates the heroic story of Queen Esther preventing a genocide of the Jewish people in ancient Persia. It dates all the way back to the fourth century BCE, when Jews were facing enormous challenges from their oppressive ruler, King Ahasuerus. According to tradition, Queen Esther revealed her Jewish identity to the king and was able to save her people from certain doom!

Nowadays, Purim celebrations include eating special pastries known as hamentaschen, exchanging gifts with friends, attending synagogue services, participating in graggers (noisemakers) for noise-making during the reading of the Book of Esther (megillah), and donating to charity. It’s one of those religious holidays that is sure to bring lots of laughter and joy – so, break out those graggers and let’s celebrate with these resources!
