Rudyard Kipling Born (1865)

Rudyard Kipling was born on December 30, 1865, in Bombay, India. His father was a professor at the nearby university, and his mother was an artist. When Kipling was five years old, he was sent to England to live with a foster family. He attended the prestigious boarding school called the United Services College, where he developed a love of literature. After graduating, Kipling returned to India and began working as a journalist. In 1887, he published his first book of poems, entitled Departmental Ditties. Kipling’s most famous work is The Jungle Book, a collection of stories about animals living in the jungle. The Jungle Book was published in 1894 and quickly became popular with both adults and children. Every year on Kipling’s birthday, his fans celebrate by reading one of his stories aloud. They also take part in activities related to the book, such as making jungle animal masks or learning about Indian culture.

By honouring Rudyard Kipling’s birthday, let’s keep his memory alive and continue to enjoy his wonderful stories with these activities!
