In 1957, two teenagers from Queens, New York made their television debut on American Bandstand. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were only sixteen and seventeen years old at the time, but their performance made a lasting impression on viewers. The duo sang their first hit single, “The Times They Are A-Changing’,” which would later become an anthem for the counterculture movement of the 1960s. Simon and Garfunkel went on to have a hugely successful career, releasing several timeless classics such as “The Sound of Silence” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” They are widely regarded as one of the greatest duos in pop music history. Nearly sixty years after their television debut, Simon and Garfunkel’s music continues to resonate with people all over the world.
