The Queen Lays In State At Westminster Hall
The Queen’s lying-in-state, thought to be codenamed Operation Marquee, will begin in Westminster Hall after a ceremonial procession through the streets of London. Westminster Hall is the oldest building on the Parlimentary Estate and holds special significance for The Royal Family. It is expected that The Archbishop Of Canterbury, The Most Revd Justin Welby, will conduct a short service upon the arrival of The Queen’s coffin. The Queen and The Archbishop were close friends and worked together to support charities around the world. This will then be followed by the beautiful tradition of The Vigil Of The Princes where The Queen’s children and grandchildren stand vigil, offering them the opportunity to mourn and say their goodbyes. Other members of The Queen’s family will also be invited to pay their respects during the vigil within a private and reverent setting.
