In collaboration with our partners at The Chef Tree, we challenge you to create some amazing and simple food creations inspired by the themes from our themed activity calendar, for example Bonfire Night and Thanksgiving.

We have a special resource pack available on the Wellness and Activities Platform that features 7 enticing recipes to spark your creativity. We can't wait to see what delicacies you'll create!

How to enter the All Things Food competition

To participate, simply share your food creations on social media by the 29th November using the hashtag #allthingsfood and tag @PCSwellnessandactivities.

Our friends and Partners at The Chef Tree will judge the entries, and we'll announce the winners on the 30th November.

Provide meaningful experiences with our top tips

To get the most out of our competition and to ensure you and your residents can create some fun and meaningful cooking memories, here are some things to consider:

Prioritise Safety and Hygiene

  • Maintain a clean workspace by ensuring all surfaces and utensils are sanitised before and after cooking.
  • Educate participants on proper handwashing techniques and food safety practices to minimise the risk of contamination.

Assess Dietary Restrictions and Allergies

  • Gather information on people's dietary needs, including allergies and specific dietary restrictions.
  • Create a list of safe ingredients to use and double-check labels when purchasing pre-packaged items.

Empower Participants in Planning

  • Involve everyone in selecting recipes and planning. Encourage them to read through recipe instructions and contribute their ideas, which helps provide a sense of ownership and engagement in the cooking process. Involve People in Shopping
  • Take participants shopping to buy ingredients, allowing them to choose fresh produce and other items.
  • This can be a fun outing and empowers them by giving them a voice in the cooking process.

Incorporate Sensory Experiences

  • Engage participants senses during cooking by encouraging them to smell spices, feel different textures, and taste ingredients.
  • This can enhance enjoyment and evoke memories associated with food.

Encourage Feedback and Reflection

  • After each cooking session, solicit feedback from participants about what they enjoyed and what could be improved.
  • Use this information to tailor future activities and make adjustments based on preferences.

Celebrate Achievements

  • Host a tasting event or meal-sharing where people can enjoy the dishes they’ve prepared together.
  • Celebrating their efforts can boost self-esteem and provide a sense of community

All of the information for this competition is available via the resources pack within the Wellness and Activities Platform.
